The Friends of Mead Garden is determined to revitalize an important green space in Winter Park, Florida. Designed in 1936 and dedicated in 1940, Mead Garden encompasses over 45 acres that includes pristine wetland which hosts an abundance of native plants and wildlife. In 2003, following a mixed history of care and interest, a group of volunteers created the Friends of Mead Garden to focus on the revitalization effort. Already the members have raised much needed awareness of the garden through the hosting of events, partnering with local schools and building a butterfly garden.
