The Great Duck Derby

"The Great Duck Derby" is a day of FREE family activities culminating in the famous rubber duck races!  For just $5, adopt a duck and enter the race.

This is a great opportunity to discover or rediscover Winter Park's hidden treasure and to see the exciting plans for the Garden’s revitalization, Nature Center and programs. 

Saturday, February 23, 2013
from 10am to 2pm
(park gates open at 9:15)

The Peabody Hotel Ducks will begin the festivities with a march to the Amphitheater at 10am.

Sponsors' Big Beautiful Ducks race in the 11:15 race. Admission and activities are free thanks to our generous sponsors.  Please see the list below.

Adopt a Duck!

Anyone can adopt a baby rubber duck to race in either the 12:15 pm or 1:00 pm race. Ducks will be available for adoption at the Winter Park Farmer’s Market on  Saturday, Feb 16, or at the Garden on the day of the Derby.

Adopt one duck for $5 each or get a Quack Pack -- adopt 4 ducks for $20 and get a 5th duck free!

Proceeds benefit the Mead Botanical Garden's education programs.

Reunite with your duck on Sunday, February 24 at the park between 2pm and 4pm.

Show your stuff in the BIG Duck Race

All SPONSORS receive a very large, bright yellow, rubber duck to decorate and race. Sponsors show their creativity "duckorating" their entries with corporate logos and other theme-decorations.

Supporters will receive a complete package of benefits including V.I.P. seating at the event, mention on all printed event materials, publicity releases and a prominent listing at the Farmer's Market duck sale.

Mead Botanical Garden Location

The entrance to the garden is located at the east end of Garden Drive off 17-92.

• From Fairbanks, take Denning Drive south to Garden Avenue.
• Using a GPS, enter 1500 S. Denning Drive, Winter Park, FL 32789.

Parking

With limited parking in the garden, we encourage you to park at the The St. John's Lutheran Church lot, located on 17-92, south of Denning Street between Garden and Camellia.

Parking is free. If you choose to park in the surrounding neighborhood, please show due care by keeping your tires off the lawns.
