Geocaching in Mead (Global Game of Hide and Seek) - Any Time!
If you're a muggle, this message may not be for you. Forward it to the Scouts you know... they can earn badges through learning how to orient using a GPS, even a smart phone app will work. And, it's great outdoors fun.
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. Mead Garden holds a place in geocaching history, since Central Florida's 1st geocache was placed here in 2001.
In November we announced the placement of several exciting new secret treasures in the garden, and the original cache has been relocated with an added adventure.
If you know about geocaching, you know what to do. The sites are published on geocaching.com.
For *newbies, you can read about it at geocaching.com. Enter the Winter Park zip code and look for Mead. Click here to go to the list of sites in our area.
Try it out! Get outdoors! Have a good time!
Our sincere appreciation to Kristine and Steve DeNunzio for designing, placing and publishing this adventure, and to "Ger & Sarina" for updating their original cache. Kristine teaches all things Mac at Winter Park Tech and has offered to teach a class in geocaching this spring here in the garden. When she and Steve designed our Mead treasurers, her caches-found count passed 1,300... and she's still going.
