The Friends of Mead Garden is determined to revitalize an important green space in Winter Park, Florida. Designed in 1936 and dedicated in 1940, Mead Garden encompasses about 48 acres that includes wetland which hosts native plants and wildlife. In 2003, following a mixed history of care and interest, a group of volunteers created the Friends of Mead Garden to focus on the revitalization effort. Already the members have raised much needed awareness of the garden through the hosting of events, partnering with local schools and building a butterfly garden.
