Create a First-Class Botanical Garden
We invite you to join us to restore, develop and sustain Mead Botanical Garden. Friends of Mead Garden volunteer in dozens of ways from research, to clerical, communications, to teaching, leading tours, fund raising events like the Duck Derby (great fun), weeding, and planting (planting ideas as well as trees). Mead Botanical Garden needs leaders and followers and everyone in between. Send us an email at info@meadgarden.org if you would like to join the fun!
Duck Derby - Saturday, February 18, 2012
Duck Derby is the perfect chance for volunteers to become involved with Mead Garden! All service to the community should be this much fun. Tasks that need help both before and especially during the event: Organizing entertainment, overseeing children`s duck painting project, assisting at Bounce House, wrangling at the duck races, parking, amphitheater events; on and on.
Before the event, there are sponsor solicitations, delivery of ducks to sponsors, etc, publicity, and many other important jobs. This is the PREMIER event where MBG makes itself known to the community at large, and it needs as much promotion and assistance as possible. Contact Beachy Harrell at info@meadgarden.org
Butterfly Brigade
This group of volunteers meets many mornings at the butterfly garden to maintain and create a haven for our ever growing population of winged beauties. Don't forget your gardening gloves and tools! For specific times and information, contact Alice Mikkleson at info@meadgarden.org
Weed Warriors
These vital volunteers meet many Saturdays from 7:30 am - 9:30 pm at the major sign located near the amphitheater. Countless weed vines and ground weeds threaten Mead Garden, so getting outdoors and burning energy here is crucial to the future of the garden. Bring gardening gloves and your favorite gardening tools for weed eradication! Contact Beverly or Alice at info@meadgarden.org
Environmental Learning Center
Join the Friends of Mead Garden Environmental Learning Center volunteers. Help design and establish the program in this unique ecosystem... teach a birding class, lead a tour of wetlands restoration, native plant workshop, sustainability class. What would you like to teach?
Just look at the strategic plan. Each goal needs a team to advance it. Contact Sue or Valerie at info@meadgarden.org
