Mead Botanical Garden, Inc., and The City of Winter Park are seeking volunteers interested in habitat restoration to assist with removal of non-native, invasive plants within several key areas with Mead Garden. These plants destroy habitat by crowding out native plants that fauna rely on for food, cover, and nesting sites. Volunteers will be cutting invasive vines and removing other non-native vegetation. Some tools will be provided, but volunteers can bring their own cutting tools, like loppers or hand pruners, and gardening gloves if available. Closed-toed shoes and long pants are recommended. Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
Water coolers and snacks provided.
This is a great opportunity to be outside, get exercise while helping your community and local wildlife.
