The goldfinches are back in the Garden. They are not that familiar bright yellow yet—that will come later as we move into Spring. Right now they are a pale yellow with dark wings. They can often be seen at the bird feeders north of the old amphitheater. While you are looking for the goldfinches, you can enjoy the beauty of the Butterfly Garden and, with a bit of patience, there is a good chance of seeing one or two of the ruby-throated hummingbirds as they feed on the nectar from the flowers in the garden. Several other species of birds can be seen around the feeders too such as, titmice, cardinals, and mourning doves. All this can be enjoyed from the comfort of one of the benches there, a relaxing way to get in some bird watching. Enjoy.
