Backyard Bio day 2020

Annual Backyard Biodiversity Day and Native Plant Sale

Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Presented by the Tarflower Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and Mead Botanical Garden.

Backyard Biodiversity Day (BBD) was created to celebrate diversity in the landscape. We invite you to spend a day with us, teaching about native plants, pollinators, wildlife, and why they are important.

This event is organized by the Tarflower Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society, our mission is to promote the preservation, conservation, and restoration of native plants and native plant communities.

Backyard Biodiversity Day is more than just a native plant sale. We host speakers, offer guided hikes and plant workshops. The event is free to the public and all proceeds from the plant sale funds our sandhill restoration project surrounding Gopher Tortoise habitat, within Mead Botanical Garden.

Our aim is to create a one day experience for all things related to Florida ecology.

Vendors will be spaced!

A place you can bring the whole family to learn about various functions of our environment, while purchasing the plants that help it thrive. We look forward to seeing you this year!

Backyard Biodiversity Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the native flora and fauna. Come out and enjoy noted speakers, workshops, informative hikes and a huge native plant sale!
